FC Alpha safeguarding policy

Policy statement

At FC Alpha we are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in our care. Every child, regardless of age, ability, background or circumstance, has the right to protection from harm and to take part in football in a safe and positive environment. We take all safeguarding concerns seriously and act swiftly in line with this policy and national guidance.

Welfare Officer

Vasile Roșca, President and Welfare Officer, 07404 526754.

Who this policy applies to

All children taking part in FC Alpha sessions; all coaches, assistant coaches and volunteers involved in FC Alpha activities; and parents and guardians attending matches or training.

Key principles

The welfare of the child is paramount. All children have equal rights to protection from abuse, neglect and exploitation. We keep an open and inclusive environment where children feel safe, listened to and supported.

Code of conduct

Coaches and volunteers treat every child with respect, are never alone one-to-one with a child in a closed environment, avoid physical contact unless it is needed for safety or instruction, and keep professional boundaries at all times.

Parents stay on the sideline during training and matches, do not shout, behave aggressively or coach from the sideline, and speak respectfully to staff and children.

Safer recruitment and training

All coaches and volunteers hold DBS checks. Coaches are trained to recognise and report concerns. References and identity checks are carried out for new coaches and volunteers.

Responding to concerns

If a child discloses abuse or a concern is raised: stay calm and listen carefully, do not ask leading questions, and report it to the Welfare Officer immediately. The Welfare Officer follows safeguarding procedures, which may include contacting the local authority or the police.

Photography and social media

Photos and videos may be used on our website and social media. We seek parental consent before using any child's image, we publish group and training photos only, and children are never identified by full name. Parents can withdraw consent at any time by contacting the Welfare Officer.

Parents

Parents are welcome to watch from the sideline and follow this code of conduct. All communication about safeguarding goes through the Welfare Officer.

Review

This policy is reviewed every year, or sooner if the law or best practice changes.
